Realistic Timelines by Stage
- Pre-seed/Angel: 2-6 weeks from first meeting to close, with smaller checks, fewer diligence steps, and often relationship-driven deals
- Seed: 4-8 weeks active fundraising, plus 2-4 weeks for legal close. Expect 30-50 investor meetings
- Series A: 6-12 weeks active fundraising, plus 3-6 weeks for diligence and legal. Expect 20-40 partner meetings
- Total calendar time from 'we should raise' to 'money in the bank' is typically 3-6 months including preparation
